Dear Democrats: No More Decorum. We Want Accountability.

Dear Democrats: We’re Not Voting for More Decorum. We’re Voting for Fucking Accountability.

An open letter from a pissed-off Gen Xer who’s had enough of political cowardice, corporate bullshit, and watching the rule of law get treated like an optional suggestion.

Hey, Democrats.

Pull up a chair. We need to have a little fucking chat.

We’re heading into the midterms, and there’s a very real possibility that we’re about to hand you control of the House, maybe the Senate, and a whole lot of state and local offices.

And before you start popping champagne, patting yourselves on the back, and congratulating each other for your brilliant political strategies, understand something.

We’re not necessarily voting FOR you. A whole hell of a lot of us are voting AGAINST what this country has become.

There’s a difference. A BIG fucking difference.

We’re not handing you power because we’re thrilled with your track record. We’re doing it because we’re watching our democracy get dragged through the mud by a bunch of authoritarian wannabes, corporate bootlickers, conspiracy theorists, and spineless politicians who apparently think the Constitution is just a decorative piece of parchment.

And we’re fucking exhausted.

We Don’t Want Another Michelle Obama Moment

Remember that whole “When they go low, we go high” philosophy?

Yeah. That was cute.

It was inspiring. Very civilized. Very presidential.

And how’s that working out for us?

Because from where I’m sitting, one side has spent years bulldozing political norms, attacking democratic institutions, and treating accountability like something that only applies to the peasants.

Meanwhile, Democrats keep showing up with carefully worded statements, stern letters, and expressions of “deep concern.”

Oh, you’re deeply concerned?

Well, holy fucking shit. That ought to scare the fascism right out of them.

This Gen Xer grew up on punk rock, Watergate documentaries, the Cold War, and politicians getting publicly grilled for their bullshit.

We learned to question authority, challenge power, and know nobody gets a free pass just because they wear an expensive suit.

We didn’t survive Reaganomics, trickle-down bullshit, and decades of corporate greed just to watch Democrats politely negotiate with people who treat democracy like a clearance sale.

We don’t need you to go low. We need you to grow a fucking spine.

There’s a difference.

No More Forgive and Forget. This Isn’t a Fucking After-School Special.

Let’s get something straight.

We are NOT voting for another round of “healing the nation” by pretending the last several years never happened.

We don’t want another speech about reaching across the aisle, finding common ground, and moving forward together while the people responsible for undermining public trust walk away without consequences.

Fuck. That. Noise.

You cannot heal a country by sweeping corruption under the rug.

You cannot restore faith in government by refusing to hold powerful people accountable.

And you sure as hell cannot defend the rule of law while treating politically connected lawbreakers like they’re entitled to some special VIP immunity package.

If someone committed a crime, investigate it. If the evidence supports charges, prosecute it. If they’re convicted, impose the appropriate sentence.

Republican? Democrat? Independent? Billionaire? Former president? Sitting member of Congress?

Don’t care.

The law isn’t supposed to exempt anyone because of their political party.

And before someone starts screaming about political persecution, let me make this crystal fucking clear: I’m talking about evidence, due process, independent investigations, fair trials, and actual convictions.

Not BS like Trump has been pulling with his “personalized” DOJ cronies. Not revenge. Not political show trials. Not locking people up because we don’t like their stupid fucking opinions.

REAL justice. The kind that applies to everybody.

Imagine that radical concept.

We’re Done With Corporate-Owned, Spineless Centrist Bullshit

Here’s another thing, Democrats.

Stop confusing compromise with surrender.

Stop acting like the most important people in America are the ones writing six-figure campaign checks.

Stop telling working-class Americans to be patient while corporations report record profits, healthcare costs remain outrageous, housing becomes increasingly unaffordable, and ordinary people struggle to keep their heads above water.

We’re tired of politicians who can find endless money for corporate interests but suddenly develop a severe case of fiscal responsibility whenever someone suggests helping actual human beings.

Oh, we can’t afford affordable healthcare?

We can’t afford to protect Social Security and Medicare?

We can’t afford to feed hungry children, support public education, or ensure seniors can live with dignity?

But somehow there’s always room in the budget for another corporate giveaway?

Get the fuck out of here with that nonsense.

And don’t even get me started on politicians who campaign as champions of working families and then spend their time catering to wealthy donors.

We see you.

We’ve BEEN seeing you.

And this Gen Xer has no patience left for the political equivalent of a used-car salesman who promises a Cadillac and delivers a rusted-out Pinto.

Accountability Isn’t Divisive. Corruption Is.

Somewhere along the way, demanding accountability became “too partisan.”

Apparently, enforcing the law is controversial now.

Calling out corruption is considered inflammatory.

And expecting elected officials to honor their oaths is somehow asking too much.

What the actual fuck?

We’ve let political theater replace real governance for so long that some Americans seem to have forgotten what public service is supposed to mean.

You work for WE THE PEOPLE.

Not your donors.

Not your party leadership.

Not the billionaire class.

Not the president.

And certainly not your buddies across the aisle who might get uncomfortable if someone starts asking questions under oath.

You swore to uphold the Constitution. Not protect your political friendships.

If investigations uncover credible evidence of criminal wrongdoing, follow it wherever it leads.

Issue lawful subpoenas. Conduct legitimate oversight. Protect whistleblowers. Preserve evidence. Refer potential crimes to independent prosecutors when warranted.

And stop treating congressional hearings like auditions for the next viral TikTok clip.

We don’t need another five-minute speech designed to generate applause.

We need RESULTS.

Because justice without consequences isn’t justice.

It’s a strongly worded suggestion.

Gen X Has Had Enough of This Shit

Part of what makes me so fucking angry is remembering what we were taught growing up.

We learned about the Constitution.

Checks and balances.

Separation of powers.

The civil rights movement.

Watergate.

The idea that no person, not even the president, is above the law.

Remember when political scandals actually mattered?

Remember when lying under oath could end a career?

Remember when public officials were at least expected to pretend they had integrity?

Pepperidge Farm remembers.

And so does this Gen Xer.

We were the latchkey kids who learned to take care of ourselves. We questioned authority, listened to music our parents hated, and grew up knowing that politicians were not our fucking heroes.

We were skeptical before skepticism became a personality trait.

And now we’re watching people treat political leaders like untouchable royalty while the institutions meant to hold them accountable get weakened, politicized, or ignored.

It’s like living inside a dystopian movie written by someone who failed eighth-grade civics.

Except the tickets are expensive, the popcorn sucks, and we can’t leave the theater.

Dear Democrats, this is your job interview. Not Your Coronation.

If voters hand you power in November, understand that it comes with expectations.

Not blind loyalty.

Not unlimited patience.

And certainly not permission to spend the next two years whining about how difficult governing is.

We already know it’s difficult.

That’s why we elect you and pay your fucking salaries.

We want you to defend constitutional rights, protect voting access, fight corruption, restore meaningful oversight, and make government work for ordinary Americans.

We want ethics rules with teeth.

We want transparency.

We want elected officials held to standards that matter.

We want independent law enforcement and courts free from political interference.

We want the rich and powerful held to the same laws as everyone else.

And yes, when people are convicted of serious crimes that warrant incarceration, we want them to serve their sentences.

We don’t want another generation growing up believing that wealth, political connections, and a loud enough social media following can buy immunity.

Most importantly, we want you to understand that decency does not mean weakness.

You can be ethical without being a pushover.

You can defend democracy without abandoning due process.

You can respect the Constitution while aggressively using every lawful tool it gives you.

And you can absolutely stop pretending that being polite to people who undermine democratic institutions is some kind of moral victory.

Don’t Fucking Waste This.

Democrats, if you win control of Congress, don’t mistake that victory for a glowing endorsement of everything you’ve done.

For many of us, it’s a demand for something better.

It’s a demand for courage.

For competence.

For accountability.

For a government that remembers who the hell it’s supposed to serve.

We’re not asking for revenge.

We’re asking for the rule of law.

We’re not asking for political persecution.

We’re asking for equal justice.

We’re not asking you to become the very thing we’re fighting against.

We’re asking you to stop being so fucking afraid of confronting it.

And if you spend another two years hiding behind parliamentary excuses, corporate talking points, and carefully crafted statements of disappointment while the country continues to suffer, don’t expect us to applaud your restraint.

We’re not electing you to be professional pearl-clutchers.

We’re electing you to GOVERN.

To protect democracy.

To enforce accountability through constitutional means.

To stand up for the people who put you there.

And to prove that the American government can still function as something other than a billionaire-funded reality show.

So here’s my message to every Democrat running for office in 2026:

Earn the votes. Earn the trust. Do the fucking job.

Because we’re not handing you a participation trophy.

We’re handing you a responsibility.

After everything this country has been through, after all the chaos, corruption, division, and political cowardice, we have every right to demand that you take that responsibility seriously.

No more excuses. No more performative outrage. No more fucking decorum at the expense of democracy.

We want justice.

We want accountability.

We want decency.

We want our government back.

And for the love of everything Gen X grew up fighting against, DON’T. FUCKING. WASTE. IT.

Signed,

A pissed-off Gen Xer who still remembers what the Constitution is supposed to mean, knows the difference between justice and revenge, and is fresh out of fucking patience.
